Walmart: Bah Humbug

An out-of-work mortgage executive tried to spread some holiday cheer this weekend, but Walmart wouldn’t have it. Barry Goldberg bought $1300 worth of $10 gift cards and began handing them out in front of a Connecticut store, but the kind act was shut down by Walmart. This shows what Walmart cares about, they already made their money on the gift cards, and were more worried about the speed at which more customers could enter their store. Leave it to Walmart to play Grinch to a show of kindness from a former executive to economically stressed Christmas shoppers.

In a great PR move and more proof that they are more ethical, Target contacted Mr. Goldberg and swapped his remaining cards for Target cards and allowed him to pass them out there. (via The Consumerist)
