The Obama Logos That Almost Were

Logo Design Love has posted the logo candidates that were not used by the Obama campaign. Personally, I think they made the right choice.

Some of the others are intriguing, however. Options 2 and 3 (as listed) invoke the idea of Obama uniting two sides of a politically polarized nation (red and blue). Finalist #1, ,with photos in the letter O, has a lot of possibilities, but looks less like a presidential logo. The talking balloons of finalist #2 are unique, but open the logo to parody.

Seeing these reminded me of a thought I had shortly after the election. How much impact, consciously or subconsiously, did the candidates logos have on voters, especially undecided voters. Obama’s logo contained red, white and blue, while McCain’s was blue and yellow.
